Yom Ha'atzmaut Party - 8 May 2008

We celebrated Yom Ha'atzmaut, Israel's 60th birthday, with an outdoor party. We were fortunate to have the "Magic Moments" vistors from Israel who came with songs and games for us. We sang "Happy Birthday Israel". Thank you to Shalom and all the young visitors. The children sat in warm sunshine and ate pita, filled with tomato, cucumber and felafel. Rabbi Brawer joined us before we released 100 blue and white balloons for our charity balloon race. The morning finished with Israeli dancing.

Sponsored Bounce - 28 February 2008

On Thursday 28th February the children at Gilah "leapt for the leap year" in the annual sponsored bounce. Thanks to the Feeney Family, who generously gave the use of their bouncy castle for the day, each child was able to spend several minutes during the day bouncing. The castle was set up in the Kol Rinah Hall and we were joined during the morning session by the Parent and Toddler Group, who kindly contributed towards the magnificent total which has already exceeded £1500 and is still rising.

Each group at Gilah has a "wish list" of items which we would like to purchase to enhance the children's learning experience. The two-year-olds need a new easel and ride-on toys, the threes need new dressing up clothes and the fours group would like to buy new books for their early readers, as well as library books and more ICT equipment. The funds raised from the sponsored bounce will go some way to meeting these needs. Thank you all – those who bounced, those who cared for the children whilst they bounced and particularly those who donated so generously.

Please have a look at the lovely photographs of the sponsored bounce that were taken for us by Danny Morris.
