There are many ways in which parents take part in the nursery, to make a warm and stimulating place for the children, such as

  • Exchange knowledge about their children’s needs, activities, interests and progress with the staff
  • Volunteering to help share their special interests with the children
  • Helping to provide, make and look after the equipment and materials used in the children’s play activities
  • Joining in the community activities in which the nursery takes part
  • Becoming part of the management of the nursery
  • Building friendships within the nursery

Parents’ Committee

In recent years, the parents have raised thousands of pounds to provide an outside play area for the youngest children at Gilah and refurbish the outside area for the older children.

As well as fundraising, the Gilah Parents’ Committee now encompasses all types
of social and educational functions, under the chairmanship of Nicole Blech (, together with parental representatives from all areas of the nursery. The Committee links to the governors through the parent governor.  If you would like to be involved in the Parents’ Committee, please e-mail
